could cause massive destruction not seen since hurricane andrew 24 years ago. here is the latest. >> catastrophic damage in ahead. hurricane matthew's 145 miles per hour wind ripped influence towns, flash flooding washing out the roads. the damage in the country is hard to measure as many ignored orders to evacuate and communications are nonexistent in many areas. >> everything in my house is wet. i have lost everything. water took it. i don't have a chance to get it back. >> the concern shifts to the bahamas where hurricane matthew is expecting to batter the island before turning its focus to the united states. states of emergency have been declared in florida, georgia, and the carolinas, with store shelves bear, bottled water is dwindling, and residents are stocking up on propane and plywood and waiting in long lines for gas. >> again to four different stations to get gas. no gas. >> the florida governor is urging people to get out before it's too late. >> the number one priority is protecting life. the storm has already killed multiple people. we should expect this same impact in florida in people do not take this seriously. >> with millions of people expected to evacuate from florida to south carolina and north carolina traffic jams are specificked and forecasters show hurricane matthew nearing florida friday morning and heading north along the coast on saturday. and sunday. as of now through the caribbean, 11 deaths have been blamed on hurricane matthew. >> now a look at south beach, florida, it looks gorgeous, right? notice what you are missing? people. do not let this calm fool you. the governor warn of a potentially deadly surf saying do not risk going out during the storm. meteorologist mike nicco is tracking that for us. what is it doing? >> we received the latest information and newest track from the hurricane center and it is increasing in strength, hurricane matthew, still calculate gory 3 but town 120 miles per hour and the eye is following over the shallow and warm to hot water around the bahamas. we will do the track. can you see it it will cross the bahamas all day today through tomorrow morning and possibly increasing up to 130 miles per hour wind. now, we will have a 20' wave roll in to miami and that is how big the waves are going to be, tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours and look how it stays category 4 up toward scrape -- cape canavaral so the strongest part is overnight. the storm surge could be up to 25' or the waves could be. all the water will be pushed into the carolinas over the weekend and into early next week. jessica castro continues the team coverage with a look at the travel impact from the storm. >> that is right, a lot of people are rearranging their flight plans to the east coast. if you do have a flight coming up, many of the major airlines are trying to help. united is waiving change fees and fair differences if you are scheduled to fly today in or out of five florida airports, today through friday. delta airlines is also waiving change fees on trip to the caribbean today and tomorrow to eight florida destinations. american airlines is on the list, saying they will wave change fees on trips scheduled through tomorrow in several caribbean nations. that does include cuba which was hit by hurricane matthew. here is a look now at sfo. early this morning, we had some delays to the orlando airport. skies are clear. you want to watch out if you are flying to florida, otherwise things seem to be okay but it is only orlando giving up the pickup. i checked oakland and san jose airports and it is on schedule there. >> you can stay up to date on the travel impact and the latest path of hurricane matthew with abc7 app by downloading it for free in the app story and enable the push alerts for breaking news updates. >> a group dedicated to reservation has a strong warning for the san francisco embarcadero behind us. putting it on 9 list of most endangered landmarks in the united states. >> that sounds ominous. elissa explains this at the embarcadero. >> first of all, it is a gorgeous day. we have seen a lot people jogging and side seeing along the embarcadero with three miles seawall. overtime or in the event of a major earthquake the seawall could be damaged or destroyed and the new study wants puts this spare area along the waterfront at risk. >> san francisco's embarcadero is likely a top of every tourist's to-do list with restaurants and shocks and three miles of promenade and, of course, the iconic ferry building. but it also makes an alarming list. the national trust for historic preservation added the embarcadero to the most at risk historic places. there are two main reasons: earthquakes and the rising sea level. >> we have a large population on a given day which makes it a concern during a major disaster on how women be able to care for, reach, and be able to extract anyone who is a victim of the incidents. >> jonathan baxter with the san francisco fire department said they prepare for disasters all the time and are on treasure island performing drills with members of the marines and navy for fleet week, a disaster that coverage or destroy the embarcadero seawall. baxter said in the worst happens they are prepared. >> we have rescue watercraft that are in the area that train on a monthly basis. they they are carrying firefighters trained in water rescue. >> a experience said they does a study of the seawall and she said repairs would cost $2 billion to $5 billion. >> that is a lot more money than the port has so right now they are trying to fine the funding. the mayor's office put together the regional resiliency task force and that is to prepare infrastructure and residents for the challenges ahead. >> thank you, antioch school is the latest to be hit by the scary clown threat that is sweeping the nation. oakland and fairfield are will dealing with threats of clowns coming to campus and attacking kids. amy hollyfield is in antioch. the threats are both frightening and disruptive?
