arrive until much later today. so daytime hours should remain nice and dry winds. nice and light. this morning. they will pick up this evening, though and temperatures most noticeably really chilly for a lot of us. san jose at 39 redwood city, 34 dublin all the way down to 33 degrees right now. santa rosa and sonoma at 35. i'm breaking down the timing of tonight's rainfall. still ahead, back to you. all right. meantime, still dealing with damage from the storms. a sinkhole is causing problems in orinda. yeah, they really can't get to it repaired because we've got more rain coming and that's complicating issues. kron four's will tran standing by live in orinda. >> with the story will. >> okay. so you can see how busy the roadway is. james and darya. i want to quickly show you look at this. can you imagine taking out one lane of this road. it will. all after that. and that's why the city over end us telling people if you possibly can just avoid this once they bring the crews out here. look at the right side of your screen. that's where the sinkhole is too dangerous for us to stand right next to it. i want to quickly show you a map. so you know, this location, this rago way. it's just right off the freeway about a mile off the freeway. 24 just south brookside drive. now, let me show you some video of this sinkhole. this happened 2 days ago. and i can tell you that the crews came out here. they did their best to try to shore it up. the even dropped rocks into the sinkhole. got some good news and some bad news to pass along to you. the good news is it's off of the roadway on the shoulder. yes, it's impacting the by clint bike lane. but not the traffic. as you just saw. it's moving in both directions. that's the good news. the bad news is that when they come out here, this is only 2 lanes, one in each direction. and the problem with that is they will have to bring out all of their equipment and then shut down one lane. that's why is going to come to a crawl orinda. it's not like san francisco, of course, where they have so many other side streets and routes that you can go to for many people. this is their only way in and out the heart of a rendon, which is why they're telling people either be patient. if this is your only route or too, if you possibly can go around it, find some other way. if you possibly can do that because you can clearly see it is the corner. and if you're a bicyclist, obviously be careful. it's quite deep. it's hard to show on video. but if you're out here, you can look down. it's quite deep. as far as the sinkhole is concerned. and, you know, guys, it might as well be eventually in a couple of hours now in the middle of the roadway because the crews will have to shut down one late. back to you. >> ok, thank you very much. well, >> and the other thing calls elsewhere as well as go to the peninsula now is the backup on highway 92 near half moon bay. it's partially closed because of a big sinkhole that opened up last week. and we're going to get quad copter 4 of views in just a second or a show you the bird's eye view of westbound 92. and there's the big sinkhole. crews have made some progress filling but they say they're uncertain whether going to be able to reopen all lanes to get this done and that means that commuting will continue to be a challenge to say the least. >> 2 extra hours, each way to get to and from and you know, families have services. so it's complicated for us, but it's complicated for customers, too. so, you know, we're just trying to figure out can we shift our hours or that? we're used to it on the coast side because this happens. it's the infrastructure can be kind of fragile. >> hear what she said. 2 hours each way. >> and the caltrans spokespeople say that they understand to hardship in the church. they're going to try to get that work done as quickly as they possibly can. the cleanup also continues in a fairview neighborhood of hayward because they had a landslide cause big damage there over the weekend. look at this is kron four's gayle ong reports some residents are fixing the problem themselves. >> tuesday afternoon, a geologist along with the hayward fire department in a city engineers surveyed the damage on fair cliff street. and for the weekend, heavy rain triggered a mudslide that destroyed one home and damaged others. the house's red for >> meantime, some residents concerned the city not acting fast enough, took matters into their own hands and installed a new high today vert water back to the sewer line. >> it's understandable, dogs are safe now after being rescued from a house fire in the east bay. this fire was tuesday morning and martinez and it took about 50 firefighters to put out the fire and get all the animals out. how many animal, 70 mostly dogs, 70 animals. they've never seen anything like this before. not the neighbors, not the firefighters. it was pretty amazing. look at all the dogs. >> i just dogs flying out of the house fire department. everybody was trying to help out. so at first i thought it was only like 10 dogs. but with the shelter. >> can you imagine it wasn't a shelter? it turns out it was dogs from a commercial breeder and they have been transferred over contra costa county animal services checked it out and they say that the dogs are only in martinez temporarily. and so they don't think there's a problem with that actually came from southern california from a breeder that's in good, active standing and the dogs are in good shape, which is amazing. thanks to the neighborhood. turns out they think it was electrical wiring that may have started this whole fire. and we do know that somebody in the home not only that his place but went to the hospital smoke inhalation. that's where the neighbors chip shipped in, helped out and loaded up the dogs in there, ok, took care of them for the short term. all right. now let's get to the a story out of sfo where pilots with united airlines say that they're frustrated. >> with how long their contract negotiations are taking. so they're going to be picketing in. everybody wonders, will that affect travel? kron four's? michael it's all to again, those pilots. there's also going to be other colleagues here from united that includes flight attendants and machinist from other associations, all gathering to show support and solidarity and hopes to come up with a contract agreement saying that they'll be standing shoulder to shoulder until this agreement is met. now, the acting chair captain mike harrison for united master executive council, put out a statement saying, quote, are in for our informational picketing sense management, a message that united pilots are unified and we're of waited long enough for a contract. continued stalling in bargaining at the table. puts the company's growth plans at risk and hinders the airlines overall goal of being the best airline in the world. adding that its this notified their employees of these layoffs, some of which our beginning immediately. they'll also be consolidating office locations to now. we know microsoft operates 3 officers here in the bay area, one in san francisco, the other in palo alto in the 3rd in mountain view. so far, it's unclear if workers from these 3 officers are among those that are facing layoffs because he's a companywide week. but we do have one to 2 feet of it at the very upper elevations of the sierra and some really low elevation. snow fall as low as 2500 feet because the system that pushes through is a pretty cold system. that means from the mid 50's for your highs today to the low 50's tomorrow and friday after that cold front makes its way in cools us down for a couple of days before we see temps rebound into morning, camila. >> good morning, guys. good morning, james. so yes, some parks are open. some parks are closed here at coyote hills right behind me. there are signs placed all over letting drivers know that this road. this is paterson ranch road. it is closed because it is a flooded. this has been a similar situation at other parks and trails in the east bay. the regional park district says that some other recreational areas will remain closed. they're going to be off limits until they find that it is safe for people to head out to the trails. and there's no more danger of mudslides and falling trees. some of those parks that remain closed because of storm damage or anthony chabot doughball seminole and alone wilderness. however, there are some parts that are partially open. people can still enjoy some of those trails. but you'll find that some the trails are closed because of all the storms that we've seen here at coyote hills, the park trails in and around the marsh like willow, muskrat and dust. they are still flooded and remain closed. the entrance, like i said, of coyote hills here at patterson ranch road is closed because of flooding. but darya james, back out here live. you'll see that they're like i said, there are a lot of placed and there's actually a or you can see some people actually walking in right now. people can still walk in. they can go running here at the park. however, drivers excuse me, cars, they are not allowed on patterson ranch road because this road is flooded. but like i said, right now, you're seeing some people walk into the park that still allowed, however, drivers cars, those are not allowed at this time. i'll send it back to you guys. >> thank you very much. coming about time now, 7.34 and the body that was found floating in the water near san francisco's ferry plaza identified now as 37 year-old. >> alexander to lead as the body was found in the water saturday morning. now they're investigating the cause of death. they do not suspect foul play and they haven't said if it was stormed it at this point. but we know there were heavy downpours, surging surf and nearly a 6 foot high tide that flooded parts of the embarcadero earlier that morning. >> on the peninsula, the mudslide in belmont shut down a busy residential road that closure on san juan boulevard. as you can see here to quite a bit damage. the slide was first reported saturday. it's only grown since then. 2 homes have been red tagged as a result and other residents of the area have been warned. they need to be ready to go at a moment's notice. if that's hillside gives away anymore. neighbors say they've been worried about it for a while. h their anxiety even worse and they're worried it could be a long time before that hill is stabilized. >> we've trees and things like that fall into the street with earlier storms over the years. but for the this storm right here, it been incredible that the water that this rain and the wind has brought down the number of trees in the amount of soil that has. >> yes, city engineers did an assessment of the hillside and they've determined that san juan boulevard will need to stay closed for at least another couple of weeks. not clear yet what kind of work needs to be done to shore up the hill and save those red tag homes problems said alum rock park in the south bay park. officials had to shut it down. >> because of the heavy, heavy rain and all of the damage, mudslides, downed trees, boulders, rocks blocking the road and that's making a hazard. as you can see, even the hollywood alum rock sign is gone. look slid down in the mud hazards from a fallen retaining wall as well. holding up the road is a problem for emergency vehicles. so the gates are going remain close to fix. it all. they're said just like we we actually do enjoy having our visitors and our park. that's why we're here to. >> that help you enjoy our so they're sad. but they also understand that right now it's not safe. >> and the park may be closed for over a month. they think they got to get engineers out there looking at the road before they can do anything. and that's one reason that
