>> it's immensely better than it was on friday. snow, getting blown around. the winds were insane. we have a storm that's going to affect us on wednesday with that said, precipitation amounts, even though it's going to be snow, not a lot. so nothing compared to what we've been through. today will be lovely, march 1 on your calendar. go on and flip it. let's look at our current h.d. doppler. basically a clear start. partly cloudy skies. that area of low pressure you can clearly see with a comma to our north over new england giving them a little light dusting of snow this morning. we're in between two systems today with the presence of high pressure. it's going to make for a great day. 45 to 49 degrees. 49 is our normal high for march 1. still a bit breezy, though, with winds out of the northwest. tonight more clouds, partly to mostly cloudy. 27 to 33 degrees. then tomorrow, that coastal low will be moving in our direction it looks like snow, light snow and maybe a little rain mix will be affecting us by tomorrow evening. more on that with your seven-day forecast. right now let's find out what that monday morning commute looks like. >> good morning, everyone. it's looking pretty good. overall, one accident of note, pulaski highway. pulaski highway is our only area where we have that problem at rossville. no problems to report other than the construction that's set up at the curtis creek draw bridge. our live camera on the beltway, harrisburg expressway running smoothly. harrisburg expressway and j.f.x. equally smooth. not a whole lot in the way of problems. hopefully it will remain quiet. we'll juch date you on any -- update you on any new problems that come in. >> thank you. a mother is asking for your help locating her missing teenager. >> baltimore city police have been on the lookout for nearly two days and hope someone can provide clues. 11 news reporter jennifer franciotti is live outside police headquarters with the details. good morning, jen. >> good morning. the mother says she hasn't seen her daughter since friday when the two went their separate ways friday evening into their bedrooms and when daija didn't get up, that's when she made the discovery her daughter was missing. the family lives on bethel street. daija doesn't go to school in the neighborhood and the mother worries she might have been lured out of the house by someone she met on a social networking site. >> unfortunately to say she does a lot of texting, myspace and facebook. that's where the majority of her friends are which leaves us, as parents, not really knowing all of her friends. i think that maybe someone coerced her to leave the house. that's what i'm thinking. maybe for a quick visit that i'm hoping didn't turn bad. >> and the family says they have put out flyers. they are working with police. if you have any information on 14-year-old daija johnson, you're asked to baltimore balm city police. jennifer franciotti, wbal-tv 11 news. >> a federal investigation is underway into what caused saturday's deadly plane crash in anne arundel county. the national transportation safety board is trying to figure out what caused the plane to go down in edgewater. 53-year-old joseph kelly was on his way back to lee pairpt when his plane crashed. kelly was pronounced dead at the scene. >> rescuers continue to scour parts of chile after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake rocked that country, killing hundreds and leaving many more stranded. as of sunday night the death toll stood at 108 but officials expect that number to rise. 1.5 million have been displaced. >> there's a possibility of some very large aftershocks that can do damage. so far we've recorded at least 100 after shocks of magnitude five or larger. >> this woman said it's out of necessity. we don't have water or anything to eat. i've got a baby and i don't have bread or anything. >> the quake set off a tsunami warning from hawaii to japan. late saturday night hawaiians breathed a sigh of relief after nearly dodging a bullet with just some rough waves. but a nearly three-foot tsunami hit part of japan's coast. this week we find out whether president obama's health care reform will get the thumbs up and his own health is making news as well. >> the summit behind him, what's president obama's next step? sort of wedged between two weather systems. one that's brewing over texas in the deep south and this one that you can clearly see a distinct comma-shaped counterclockwise motion to our north over new england. a little wintry mix near boston this morning. for us, a clear start in the mid anothemid-atlantic. right now we're 38 degrees downtown. well above freezing. 35 at the airport. 38 in annapolis. and over on the eastern shore across the bay bridge near easton and st. michaels, 36 degrees. forecast for today gives us a seasonable high of about 45 to 49 degrees. 49 is normal for march 1. partly cloudy skies but still a bit breezy, making it feel a little more brisk out there. winds out of the northwest at 10 to at times even 20 miles per hour today. high pressure is in control. taking a look at our almanac. 80 degrees the record for march 1 set back in 1972. a record low o set back in 1980. the wind out of the northwest at 10 to 15 miles an hour. increasing clouds. high pressure today wedged in between the two systems. we are closely monitoring another area of low pressure which is going to follow the same southern track and move in our direction by tomorrow. the low pressure area will be off the shores of the carolinas tomorrow night and then be moving up tomorrow night on through the day on wednesday in our direction. so that's a little bit unnerving but it does look like this will not be a big precipitation maker, though we will get some snow out of it. taking a look at future cast. tuesday by 10:00, a little bit of intermittent activity. the bulk of the system is still to our south on tuesday. a nice band of snow by, say, 9:00 a.m. on wednesday. so wednesday morning's commute could be a little bit dicey out there. but, again this will be mover an intermittent snow and rain mix event. a little more rain expected as we head through the rest of the day on wednesday and then clearing by thursday. after we get through with this next midweek storm, i think we're going to break out of the pattern. think we're going to see a beautiful weekend in store. you can see a little more unsettled weather on thursday with perhaps a flurry. by friday we're up to 47. more sun. check out this fabulous weekend. saturday and sunday, sunny, both days, in the low 50's. beautiful weather. we haven't really been in the 50's in about six weeks. so something to look forward to. >> in this morning's "consumer alert," speed dating no longer just for singles. backs are now using the techniques to help small businesses. a small business fair held in february took the techniques of speed dating and introduced small business owners to several local banks. the idea is to help build relationships and educate owners on accessing capital. the maryland chamber of commerce says small businesses are the economic engine and assuring the ability of financing will help the state grow. artscape means big business in baltimore. it could also help the singles scene. 49% of the people who attended last year were single. it's an interesting fact we pulled from an economic impact study of the three-day arts festival. all of that spending on hotels, spliez suppliers use underage workers to help build the iphone, ipod and mac computer. it was discovered while an on-site audit was done. the company says the kids are no longer working at the factories but now children advocates are urging apple to disclose more details about its suppliers. stocks futures are pointing to a higher open. stocks overseas also are rising because of speculation greece may get a bailout from the european union. on friday stocks ended slightly higher. this is partly thanks to a report showing the economy is growing faster than expected. and right now toyota's president is speaking in beijing. and toda's appearance mark -- ts limited to about 775,000 vehicles -- 75,000 vehicles there. and rescuers in chile are still looking for survivors. so far 700 people have died. and the 8.8 magnitude quake has disrupted the global copier supply. chile is the world's largest copper producer. prices for the medal are now jumping the most in 11 months. that's business
