inoculated against h1n1 because they are at risk from that flu strain. >> the health system is aware of the virus. >> reporter: rather than the shot, hartford county students will receive flu mist. here is the problem there has to be a four week waiting period between mist vaccines whether for seasonal flu or h1n1. children under 10 years old will need two mists of h1n1. >> that being said to the extent that these folks will need them four weeks apart we didn't want to delay the process in light of the urgency getting the children the h1n1 vaccine. >> tragically it's a disease that is in our community. and like seasonal flu, each year, people become so ill that they succumb to the consequence ses. >> reporter: 36,000 people die of seasonal flu each year. >> we can be fortunate that we have seen few deaths as a result of the h1n1 as we have seen. >> reporter: besides kids there are five target populations for the vaccine. pregnant women, health care workers, people who live or work with children under six months of age and adults between the ages of 25 and 64 with preexisting conditions. it is imperative to be on top of your children's health. a 14-year-old texas girl is dead tonight after being denied tamiflu. her family says it started at a fever. a trip to the doctor's office confirmed she had the flu, possibly the swine flu. >> i was scared for them to put her to sleep. i was afraid she would not wake up. they just kept telling me it would get better. but it didn't. i wish now that i might have listened to my instincts better. >> doctors sent the girl home pillow had been duct tape around his head. >> the renters are charged with first-degree murder. weeks died from multiple years. medical examiner did not specify whether the pillow and duct tape are
