>> uh-huh. >> okay. put it in your bra or something like that and walk out of there. >> leslie johnson's attorney characterized the $80,000 in cash as household emergency money. on the fourth floor of the federal courthouse in greenbelt, you knew that money was tainted, you tried to conceal or destroy it. the judge handed down a year and a day sentence to the former county council member who ultimately resigned after pleading guilty. a couple dozen supporters expressed disappointment that leslie johnson got prison time. some residents think a year isn't enough. >> honestly, i think it's not enough. $80,000, you know where the cash is. and you shove it down your underwear? there's got to be something else going on. >> actually the year and a day sentence given by the judge is merciful because it's longer than a year. it allows good time credit to pile up to accumulate. leslie johnson could get out in ten months. jack johnson will start a seven year prison sentence in february. leslie johnson starts in march. >> you were there, what was leslie johnson's demeanor? >> she was very serious, very deliberate when she read from a prepared statement when talking to the judge. she herself was a 14 year administrative law judge in the district of columbia. when she first came in the courtroom, she looked straight ahead, didn't look at anyone. as she sat down and saw dozens of supporters in the courtroom, she smiled and nodded to a few people. i think she was truly grateful for the people who showed up for her. >> john hanrahan tonight. now that the virginia tech shooting. we just learned who the virginia tech gunman was involved in yesterday's shooting. he is 22-year-old ross ashley of spotsylvania, virginia. ross spent the day on the virginia tech campus. joins us live from blacksburg. i know we just got the name. you haven't been able to do digging, but what's the mood on campus and any new details? >> well, they are trying to learn what the motive was. we have a name now, hopefully we'll learn more. that's what people are asking over and over. this is a campus in mourning tonight, trying to figure out how and why this all happened. there are flags flying at half staff. that was a veteran patrol officer, deriek crouse who is a husband and a father of five children. now at the coliseum parking lot, a small memorial is taking shape, honoring him for his service as a veteran and a campus police officer. there's a big thank you. after one of the worst mass murders, students are wondering how this could have happened again. >> it's not like you ever think about something like this is going to happen. when it does, you never think it's going to happen again. i mean, to say shocked is an under statement. it's a sense of silence. it's stunning. sad. >> now again, the just released information we've been told that the shooter is a 22- year-old from radcliffe university. we are hoping to learn more details about a motive. whether or not he was the same person responsible for a carjacking in nearby radford on early wednesday morning. brian. >> here are the breaking details just into the newsroom a short time ago. just to recap. that is the virginia tech gunman involved in yesterday's shooting. he is 22 years old. his name is ross ashley of spotsylvania, virginia. he was a student at nearby radford university. there was an armed robbery that took place in the town of radford, where a mercedes-benz is stolen. no word on whether or not those two are connected. the dead gunman was involved in the shooting on virginia tech campus. more details as we get them. chaos at a store in anacostia. police released this information last week. three men wearing black ski masks, took cash from the register. looking for those suspects. newly released video of an american held captive is leaving more questions than answers. disappeared in 2007. as fox's molly reports, we still don't know who is holding robert against his will. >> this still image taken from the video shows retired fbi agent worn and ragged, but alive. the family releasing the video they received from his unidentified captors. while issuing a plea to his kidnappers. >> i'm making a plea to the people holding my father. my mother has received your messages. please tell us your demands so we can work together to bring my father home safely. >> bob, i will continue to do everything i can to bring you home alive. all i want is for our family to be whole again. we love you. we miss you every day. >> in the video which the family received in november 2010, pleads with the u.s. government to meet the demands of the people holding him, but did not identify them. the associated press saw the video last year, but did not immediately report it because the u.s. government said doing so would complicate diplomatic efforts to bring levanson home. the relations between the u.s. and iran taking a turn for the worst. levanson's family foregoing, trying to appeal to the unidentified kidnappers. despite a lengthy investigation, the u.s. government has no evidence of who is holding elevenson. clues from the video and photos which arrived a few months later indicate elevenson might not be in iran at all. pakistan or afghanistan. this according to u.s. officials who wish to remain unanimous. the iranian government routed the video through pakistan as a way to blame levonnson's disappearance on someone else. they have no proof of that. in washington, fox news. on the campaign trail, the countdown is on to the iowa caucus nerally january. a new fox news poll shows newt with a sizable lead over mitt romney. targeting the former house he'll have to fight hard now that gingrich is a 14 point lead in the polls. >> looking for somebody who is as smart and capable as mitt romney and more conservative. they think now that the moment they found it in gingrich. >> romney's new ad paints him as out of touch with his party. another ad shows romney is a family man, contrasting with gingrich who has been married three times. he signed up for a debate, but most of the other candidates declined to participate. a deal to solve a european's debt crisis is taking shape. leaders have a tentative agrement in place. aims at balancing budgets. the uk says they don't want to be involved. news of possible deal helped. stocks closed higher today on the hope the region is close to solving its debt crisis. nasdaq and s & p 500 posted gains. everyone looking for a bargain. stores are handing them out. there is one kind of discount that could end up costing you. we'll explain. >> hey brian, tgif. it is the weekend. we are focusing on that weekend forecast and trying to cook up weather for sunday that will favor those redskins. >> coming up in sports, speaking of the redskins, can the patriots redskins be tamed?
