Matt Fyfe.
MATT FYFE. Industry veteran Matt Fyfe, former President of Maclean Hunter Printing (Toronto), died on December 30, 2020 at the age of 84. Fyfe was a key player in taking Maclean Hunter’s magazine printing facility from an in-house operation to a growing national commercial printing company, with production facilities across Canada. He served as President of the Canadian Printing Industries Association (CPIA) and the Canadian Printing Industries Scholarship Trust Fund (CPISTF), was a board member of the Printing Industries Association (PIA) in the U.S., and worked tirelessly with those and other industry associations and organizations.
Fyfe was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1936 and met the love of his life, Sheila, in 1956. The couple came to Canada in 1958. They had a wonderful 61 years of marriage together and Matt will be sincerely missed by his wife Sheila and his children Steven (Jennifer), Carolyn (Glenn). He was predeceased by his son Scott. Fyfe enjoyed 27 years at Maclean Hunter, holding several management roles including President of Printing Operations. He was extremely well known within the Canadian and United States printing industries. At one time he enjoyed coaching and refereeing at the Markham Soccer Club in Markham, Ontario, eventually becoming its President. He was a long-time member of York Downs Golf Club and, during his retirement, enjoyed traveling with Sheila to what he referred to as his second home – Siesta Key in Sarasota County, Florida.
