Man dies 1 week after being shot in Akron

AKRON, Ohio A man shot in the head last week just east of downtown has died of his wounds, police say.
The 27-year-old victim was wounded at about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, April 11, near the intersection of Carroll and Beaver streets, according to police. The man was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital and his wounds initially were not thought to be life-threatening.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, died Sunday in the hospital, police say.
Police believe the shooting occurred during an altercation following a house party on the 600 block of Carroll Street. No arrests have been made and police are still trying to identify suspects.

AKRON, Ohio A man had his vehicle stolen at gunpoint near an intersection just south of downtown last weekend, according to police.
The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the area of West Thornton Street and Dart Avenue. The 23-year-old driver tells police a black sedan pulled up next to his 2019 Chevrolet Camaro and pinned his car in, preventing him from moving forward.
Two armed males then got out of the sedan and order the victim out of his Camaro, police say. They ordered the man to the ground, took his money, then drove off with his vehicle.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - A 50-year-old woman was sitting in her car when two teenagers pulled up behind her, took out a gun, and demanded she get out, police said.
Police said the carjacking happened around 9 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Herberich Avenue.
The woman told police she was sitting in her parked car when a white car pulled up behind her. Two men got out of the car, and one pointed a gun at her and demanded she get out of her car.

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) - Akron Police are urging the community to come forward with any information that may help investigators learn what caused the âsudden deathâ of a man found in a garage on Thursday.
Police said officers were called to the vacant residence in the 600 block of Euclid Avenue just before 11 a.m. for a man down inside a garage.
When officers arrived, they found the man unresponsive.
