CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 26-year-old woman was killed after a hit and run accident on State Route 8 near the East Buchtel Avenue exit Friday evening.
Police are trying to locate a white truck they believe struck the woman and identify and locate the driver, according to an Akron police media release.
The truck stopped momentarily after striking the woman but then left the scene, police said.
The woman was emotionally disturbed and may have been threatening to harm herself in the moments before her death, according to the release.

AKRON, Ohio – A 26-year-old woman died Friday night after she was struck by a white truck on Ohio Route 8, police say.
The crash happened about 10:30 p.m. on Ohio Route 8 southbound near the East Buchtel Avenue exit, Akron police spokesman Lt. Michael Miller said in a news release. When they arrived, officers found the victim lying unresponsive in the roadway.
She was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital, where she died, Miller said. Her identity has not yet been publicly released.
During the initial investigation, authorities learned that the woman had been riding in a vehicle on the highway with her mother, Miller said. The woman was “acting erratically” during the ride, and at some point, her mother pulled over and let the woman out of the vehicle.
One teen dead, another injured after double shooting in South Akron
One 17-year-old was killed and another was injured Tuesday in a shooting in Akron.
Akron police said the shooting happened about 3:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Neptune Avenue in South Akron.
Officers responding to shots fired calls found the first victim outside a home with gunshot wounds. Police said he had been shot in the chest.
He was taken to the hospital at about 3:20 p.m. and died shortly after 10 p.m., according to the Summit County Medical Examiner s Office.
A second shooting victim was found at a nearby gas station in the 900 block of Brown Street. Police said he was shot twice. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Shootings wound 2 men in Akron, police say

AKRON, Ohio Two men were wounded Monday night in separate shootings, according to police.
Officers met with a 40-year-old man at Summa Health Akron City Hospital at about 8:40 p.m. The victim had suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the body.
The man told police he was taking out the trash at his Kenmore neighborhood residence on the 2100 block of Fifth Street SW when two unknown males opened fire. The man was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle.
About two hours later, officers again were called to the hospital for a 28-year-old man who had been shot in the neck. The man tells police he was driving in the area of Seventh Avenue and Alexander Street in East Akron when he noticed he was being followed. The man says he got out of his car to investigate when two men in another vehicle got out and began firing.
