Wellsville prepares for Madison St bridge work

WELLSVILLE The Village of Wellsville is preparing for a major bridge replacement project set for this summer.  The arched Madison Street bridge over the Western NY & Pennsylvania Railroad will be torn down and replaced during the construction season. Allegany County first approved design work for the new bridge in 2018 and the project is coming to fruition this year.  Village DPW Superintendent Bill Whitfield said the county is expected to award the bid for construction work this spring in March or April. The county has estimated the project will cost just over $2.5 million.  Sometime this summer Madison Street will close and remain closed until the project is completed, said Whitfield, who estimated the project will take 12-18 months. They have a considerable amount of work to do there.

Opinion: Thanks to Red Kettle donors - centraljersey com

Opinion: Thanks to Red Kettle donors On behalf of The Salvation Army Trenton Citadel Corps and Princeton United Methodist Church (PUMC), I am writing to thank the hundreds of people who contributed to the 13th annual Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign in Princeton this holiday season. Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of donors and dozens of PUMC bellringing volunteers in Greater Princeton, The Salvation Army will continue to support a broad array of programs and services to help alleviate suffering to any and all in need without qualification or discrimination. Some of the services have included: assistance with housing and social services; a greatly expanded mobile food truck/hygiene service providing delivery of hot meals and hygiene kits to neighborhoods in response to the COVID-19 crisis; neighborhood picnics with police representatives to build community trust; and safe-space after-school activities and tutoring for students in STEM and reading enrichment.
