50-year-old William Christopher Giles of Farmview Lane in Statesville was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony exploitation of an older or disabled adult.
According to information released today (May 13), on August 17, 2020 a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office stating that William Christopher Giles had kidnapped his elderly neighbor. Responding deputies found that the individual was not kidnapped but had been taken to a financial institution to alter bank accounts.
The investigation was assigned to a Detective in the Economic Crimes Unit. Financial records were gathered, interviews were conducted, medical records were collected, and civil court proceedings occurred.

STATESVILLE, N.C. A Statesville man has been charged after he tried to swindle his elderly neighbor out of money and their home, according to Iredell County deputies.
Sheriff Darren Campbell said a report was filed with the sheriff’s office last August which stated that 50-year-old William Christopher Giles had kidnapped his elderly neighbor. When deputies responded, they found that the elderly victim was not kidnapped but had been taken to a financial institution to alter bank accounts.
Over the course of a lengthy investigation, deputies found that Giles was using his position of trust as a neighbor to the elderly victim to siphon money out of the victim’s financial account, create new accounts, and attempt to purchase the victim’s home.

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Sunday, May 2, 2021, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office was called to 2390 Old Wilkesboro Road in reference to a two year old child who was shot.
When the deputies arrived on scene, the located the victim and provided medical care until medical personal arrived. The child was treated at the scene, then taken to Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem for additional treatment.
