A Slater man has been charged with a felony for his alleged role in an incident that took place in October of last year.
According to a probable cause statement, Daniel Hamblen and Deseray Heyer allegedly assaulted a man on October 3 in the 700 block of East Yerby. The victim claims that Hamblen and Heyer assaulted him because he refused to consume alcohol with them. Hamblen allegedly struck the victim twice in the face. The victim stated that Heyer then grabbed him by his hoodie and ear and drug him into a nearby wooded area where she then struck the victim.
A Gilliam man has been charged with multiple felonies for allegedly assaulting and threatening a woman and endangering the welfare of children during an incident that started on May 11 and ended on May 12.
According to authorities, multiple agencies participated in getting three children and two women to safety, but Johnathon Scheid, who released one of the children from a basement of the home, closed the basement door and refused to turn himself over to authorities. After nearly a two-hour standoff that started at approximately 11:30 p.m. on May 11 and work by a negotiator, Scheid exited the basement and was taken into custody at about 1:16 a.m. on May 12.
A Marshall woman who has been charged with a felony for allegedly assaulting a law-enforcement officer on May 12 has a court proceeding set for this week.
A deputy reported he was escorting Sydney Nicole Rodgers out of the courthouse in Marshall after she was ordered by a judge to spend time in the county jail for probation violation. He says Rodgers, whose hands were cuffed in front of her body, pulled away and ran to a parked vehicle on the south side of the square. She got in and started the vehicle; and while pulling out, she made eye contact with the deputy, who was in pursuit. The vehicle nearly struck the deputy, who had to get out of the way.
A 44-year-old Marshall man is facing a felony charge for allegedly assaulting his stepfather in Saline County.
Saline County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a physical fight in progress at a residence on December 30, 2020. The investigation revealed an adult son had struck and pushed his stepfather, resulting in broken furniture. Jeremy Jason Winningham was placed under arrest.
Winningham was arraigned and pleaded not guilty, on March 8, to a Class E Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree. Bond is set at $5,000 cash or surety.
A Plea/Trial in this case is scheduled for 9 a.m., Monday, May 17, at Saline County Circuit Court.
A 19 year old Malta Bend man facing sex related felonies involving a juvenile remains in custody.
The mother of a 15-year-old juvenile reported to authorities that her daughter alleged that she had been raped, on two separate occasions by a family member, identified as Jayden Browder.
Browder is charged with two Unclassified sex-related felonies. Bond is set at $250,000 cash only.
Browder pleaded not guilty to the charges on Monday, April 26. A Plea/Trial Setting in this case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, May 17 at Saline County Circuit Court.
