The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed a shooting that killed a male victim and severely injured a second person in Newark's Ironbound section Tuesday night.
According to The Prosecutor's Office, at approximately 7 p.m., a gunman fired multiple rounds of bullets in the direction of two males in the vicinity of 172 Pacific Street, striking both the victims.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found both victims unconscious and unresponsive at that location.

Both victims were transported to University Hospital where one was pronounced dead, the Essex County Prosecutor s Office said.
No further details were released.

Essex County Officials announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Jarrod Lawson, 16, of Newark.
Police said, today, Lawson was fatally shot in the 500 block of 15th Avenue around 12:40 a.m. in the city of Newark.
Lawson was transported to University Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
No arrests have been made at this time.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
