Daily Post Nigeria Published No fewer than 3,187 traffic offenders have been arrested by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Command. The Lagos Sector Commander, Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said they were arrested during the “30 days operation zero tolerance” in the state. He said the offenders were arrested for allegedly committing 3,708 traffic offences between Dec. 15, 2020, and Jan. 15. Ogungbemide added that officers of the command impounded 1,430 vehicles and confiscated 1,757 others for failure to meet the roadworthiness requirements during the period under review. According to him, a total of 46 road traffic crashes were recorded with five fatal accidents.

TODAY January 27, 2021 The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun, on Wednesday in Osogbo, said no fewer than five persons escaped death in an accident on the Ipetu-Ijesa-Akure Highway. The Sector Commander, Mrs Kudirat Ibrahim, said this in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs Agnes Ogungbemi. Ibrahim noted that five persons: two men and three female, were rescued by the corps when their Mistubushi Bus with registration number APR 854 XA lost its brakes and ran into a river on the Ipetu-Ijesa highway. She said, “The accident occurred at about 3:40pm on Tuesday with five persons inside a Mitsubishi bus on Ipetu-Akure highway without any death.

The Corps Public Education Officer, ACM. Bisi Kazeem, in an interview on Wednesday in Abuja, said the offenders violated different traffic rules and regulations. Kazeem said the motorists were arrested for overloading, speeding, seatbelt use violation, dangerous driving, route violation, light sign violation, drunk driving, worn-out or expired tyres among others. He said the highest number of arrests was recorded in August, while the least number of arrests was recorded in April, due to restrictions placed on inter-state travels.
