Multiple shootings overnight in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety responded to three separate shootings overnight on Saturday in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Officers responded to the area of E. Main St. and Edwin Ave regarding a person being shot at around 9:21 p.m. The victim, a 30-year-old Kalamazoo resident, was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
While Kalamazoo officers were investigating the shooting on E. Main St., a crowd of nearly 400 people gathered in the 500 block of Mable Street.
One Person Injured in Officer Involved Shooting in Kalamazoo
A Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer is on administrative leave while State Police investigate an officer-involved shooting.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says one of their officers shot and injured a man during the overnight hours while investigating a separate shooting incident nearby.
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Friday, May 21, an officer from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS), was patrolling the area of Florence and Burrell, according to a release from the department.

KDPS officers were in the area due to a shooting in the 600 block of Florence that occurred three hours earlier, at approximately 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20. In that incident, an individual was shot and injured but refused to provide information or any refused medical attention from the KDPS officers.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. â Kalamazoo police released bodycam footage from an officer-involved shooting that injured a man this morning. Heâs got a gun in his hand. Drop it. Drop the gun, said a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer in the bodycam footage.
The officer involved has been placed on paid administrative leave after shooting and injuring the 47-year-old resident. A member of our community was shot by a KDPS officer, said Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Chief Vernon Coakley.
