WESTFIELD Slowly, but surely Westfield-area residents and front-liners are receiving vaccinations.
Westfield Memorial Hospital said Tuesday it is planning to hold several COVID-19 vaccine clinics this week and next week. Clinics are held from 1 to 3 p.m. To date, the hospital has vaccinated approximately 260 local health-care workers and seniors over 65.
The clinic was scheduled as a result of the hospital receiving 200 additional first doses of vaccine, according to hospital President Karen Surkala.
Future clinics, utilizing additional doses of vaccine, are scheduled for Tuesday and Feb. 17. To schedule, qualified patients should check AHN.org, where Westfield Memorial Hospital will be providing a scheduling link for individuals to sign up later this week. Those without Internet can sign up by calling 793-2200.
Health Department Reports Four COVID-19 Related Deaths, 42 New Cases for Monday
MAYVILLE – The
Chautauqua County Health Department says there were four new
COVID-19-related deaths in the county for Monday. As a result, the overall number of COVID-19 related deaths is now at 111.
According to the county health department’s COVID-19 dashboard that was updated Tuesday, there were also 42 new COVID 19 cases for Monday, and the total number of known active cases was at 364 – 37 fewer than Sunday.
There were also 39 hospitalizations for Monday, four more than what was reported for Sunday. Also, the 7-day test positivity rate was at 5.9%, two-tenths of a percent lower than Sunday.
Active COVID-19 Cases in County at Lowest Level Since Early December
MAYVILLE – The
Chautauqua County Health Department says there were 37 news cases of
COVID-19 reported in the county for Tuesday and the number of actives cases continues to decline.
According to the county health department’s COVID-19 dashboard that was updated Wednesday, the total number of known active cases for Tuesday was at 339 – 25 fewer than Monday. It’s also the lowest Active Case count in the county since December 7, 2020.
In addition, no new deaths were reported.
There were also 38 hospitalizations for Tuesday, one fewer than what was reported for Monday. Also, the 7-day test positivity rate was at 6.1%, two-tenths of a percent higher than Monday.
Two more local lawmakers have announced they tested positive for the coronavirus.
State Assemblymember Joseph Giglio, who represents all of Cattaraugus and Allegany counties and part of Steuben County in the Southern Tier s 148th district, has announced that he and his wife Ann have both tested positive for COVID-19.
Giglio took a test after experiencing mild flu-like symptoms. He said in a release that the couple is self-isolating at home and noted that he has been working remotely for several weeks, carrying out his legislative duties via Zoom and conference calls.
Jamestown Mayor Eddie Sundquist also announced he tested positive for the virus.
