A Crystal River man faces a felony that could put him in prison for life after he was arrested for molesting a young girl.
Tyler Scott Miles, 20, is due to appear in court Feb. 2 for a status hearing on his life-felony charge of molesting a child younger than 12 years old.
Citrus County Sheriffâs Office deputies transported Miles Dec. 16 from the Hillsborough County jail to the Citrus County Detention Facility after Tampa police arrested him Dec. 9 on a local warrant issued Dec. 8, according to court records.
Miles remains in custody without a bond.
According to the affidavit for Milesâ arrest warrant, Citrus County Sheriffâs Office authorities responded Nov. 19 to a Crystal River address to investigate a report of child-molestation.
Tahzon Isaiah Majurie, 18, was arrested Monday, Dec. 21, by the Citrus County Sheriffâs Office.
He was booked into the county jail under a charge of battering a detention facility staff member. His bond was set at $2,000.

According to Majurieâs arrest report, obtained Wednesday, sheriffâs office deputy Christopher Culbertson responded Monday to the Cypress Creek Juvenile Offender Correctional Center in Lecanto to question those involved.
A guard told Culbertson he was helping other corrections officers control Majurie when Majurie bit his inner left arm, breaking the skin and holding on for several minutes, according to the arrest report.
Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast announced the promotion of six of his deputies and brought attention Tuesday to their accomplishments during a ceremony.
âThese promotions were made to further strengthen and structure the Citrus County Sheriffâs Office for future endeavors,â CCSO spokesman Sgt. Lee Carey wrote the Chronicle.

Late Friday, Dec. 18, Citrus County Sheriffâs Office deputies apprehended two juvenile accomplices of an 18-year-old St. Petersburg male, who was arrested Thursday, Dec. 17, charged with auto theft after stealing a truck in the early morning hours of that same day, according to a Citrus County Sheriffâs Office (CCSO) spokeswoman.
Investigators were able to obtain post-Miranda confessions from all three suspects, said Jodi Sanders, agency spokeswoman.
The Chronicle is not naming the two juveniles, both of Dunnellon, because of their age, 17 and 16, respectively.Â
The 17-year-old was charged with six counts of burglary of a conveyance; two counts of burglary becoming armed; two counts of grand theft of a firearm; four counts of petit theft; three counts of grand theft auto; one count each of criminal mischief and burglary of a structure.
Neighboring counties to Citrus saw similar overdose trends.
Marion County saw a 106% increase from 31 cases to 64 cases during the March-June time frame; Hernando Countyâs overdose deaths increased from nine to 28, a 211% increase. Data for other neighboring counties was not available in the report.
For the 2020 year to date, Citrus County reported 56 overdoses, up 107% from 27 in 2019, according to the report. That gave Citrus County an overdose rate of 37.42 per 100,000 residents, leaving Citrus with the sixth highest overdose rate in Florida.
Citrus Countyâs use of Naloxone, often better known by its brand name NARCAN, has skyrocketed, and is a reflection of opioid overdoses.
