Two killed, two injured in road accidents

Two people were killed while two others were injured in separate road accidents on Wednesday. A man died and another was injured after a speedy vehicle hit their motorcycle in Steel Town. The casualties, who are yet to be identified, were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
In a similar incident, a passerby, who are yet to be identified, died after being hit by a speedy vehicle near Shershah Chowk within the SITE B Section police station remits. The body was moved to a morgue for identification after medico-legal formalities at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).
Karachi: Sindh Governor Imran Ismail recently visited ‘the world’s longest restaurant on wheels’ in Karachi.
The mobile restaurant has been providing free meals twice a day. The people are also allowed to take away as many parcels of free meals as they like for their family members who are not able to reach the restaurant.
The restaurant is housed in a shipping container specially equipped to be used as a kitchen and dine-in facility. A non-profit JDC Foundation Pakistan has been running this novel charitable venture since the start of Ramadan. Karachi food delivery rider falls to death in elevator shaft

A man working for a food delivery company died after he fell into an elevator shaft at an apartment complex in Karachi’s Clifton, the police said on Tuesday.
According to a resident, the victim delivered food at the doorstep of a woman. “She gave him Rs5,000 and told him to get the remaining amount back,” he said.
When Naveed walked in, the elevator doors opened and he fell to his death as there was no lift in place. The body was trapped in the building for hours.
Two young friends among three killed in road accidents

Two young friends died in a road traffic accident in the outskirts of Karachi on Sunday, while another man died in an accident in the Karsaz area.
Police said that two young men died in an accident near the Ghaggar Phattak area on the National Highway, adding that following the accident, rescue workers took the casualties to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Officials said that the victims were identified as 18-year-old Mukesh and 21-year-old Tilu Makro, adding that both the deceased belonged to the Hindu community and had died on the spot, while the culprit driver managed to escape after running them over.
Risks of oral cancer high as most Pakistani youths failing to undergo timely screening’

“A vast majority of youngsters in Pakistan are still failing to undergo comprehensive oral screenings, and this greatly increases the risk that early signs of oral cancer will go undiagnosed for too long due to its painless nature,” said Prof Jehan Alam, consultant oral & maxillofacial surgeon & head of the Department of Dentistry, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
