LAFAYETTE, Ind. One new death from COVID-19 was reported in Tippecanoe County over the weekend, according to the Indiana State Department of Health Monday, and 11 new positive cases brought the county s total to 22,375 since the pandemic started.
The death toll to COVID-19 in Tippecanoe County increased to 219. Just over 114,000 114,200 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the county since spring 2020; 134 tests were conducted Sunday.
Nearly 70,000 people in Tippecanoe County have became fully vaccinated as of Monday, the state s vaccine dashboard reported, while 624 people became fully vaccinated on Sunday. As of Monday, 82,500 individuals have received at least one shot of the vaccine.

Some of Indiana’s top public health leaders are pleading with the legislature not to overturn Gov. Eric Holcomb’s veto of a bill they say would dramatically weaken the authority of local health officials during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Officers of the Indiana Public Health Association and the Indiana State Association of County and City Health Officials on Friday held a video press conference to make their last-ditch case that the legislation would undermine their ability to respond to emergencies.
The Indiana General Assembly is scheduled to meet Monday in a one-day session. It is widely believed that lawmakers will hold a vote on overriding Holcomb’s veto of the bill, known as Senate Enrolled Act 5.

With 22 additional positive cases reported Thursday, the total number of cases in Tippecanoe County rose to 22,336. Nearly 114,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the county since the pandemic started in spring 2020; 186 tests were conducted Wednesday.
