The Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission organized a team to tackle debris in the Berkeley Heights section of Union County s Passaic River Park.

Union County, NJ – A section of Union County s Passaic River Park received a sprucing-up from an all-ages team of volunteers organized by the Berkley Heights Environmental Commission last weekend, as part of Union County Adopt-a-Park program. The volunteers removed trash, scrap metal, tires, and other debris from a trail that runs through a section of the park between Station Street and Summit Avenue in Berkeley Heights.
The team included local residents and officials including Berkeley Heights Mayor Angie Devanney, members of the Berkeley Heights Township Council, and Union County Board of Commissioners Chairman Alexander Mirabella.

May is Military Appreciation Month and the Union County Board of Commissioners is committed to connecting our veterans and military families with helpful services.
Over the past year, we have expanded our outreach with several new programs.
We now have designated parking spaces at of our County facilities, for all Union County Veterans who display a Union County Veterans parking placard in their vehicle. To view a list of the locations and submit an application for a free placard, please visit ucnj.org/uc-hero.
In support of our LGBTQ veterans and active military residents, we have also partnered with our Office of LGBTQ Affairs, to address specific concerns and issues. We offer services for VA disability issues, military discharge upgrades, medical benefits, education resources, housing assistance, and employment/training resources.

The Union County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce a new and exciting season of summer programs for children and families at Union County s Trailside Nature and Science Center, located in the Watchung Reservation at 452 New Providence Road in Mountainside.
Registration begins Saturday, May 15 at 9:00 a.m. for Union County residents, and Monday, May 17 at 9:00 a.m. for non-county residents. Union County, NJ – The Union County Board of County Commissioners reminds residents that the next mobile paper shredding event of 2021 will be held in New Providence on Saturday, May 15 for free, secure shredding of personal and confidential documents. Union County s mobile document shredding service helps residents fight identity theft by providing a convenient way to shred confidential documents, said Board of Commissioners Chairman Al Mirabella It also promotes our County recycling efforts and ties in with other green initiatives in Union County.

At Union County s paper shredding events, documents are put into 96-gallon containers provided by the shredding company, lifted into the truck and shredded on site. The shredded documents are then taken to a licensed recycling facility.
