DPL unlikely in current situation, says Nazmul Sports Correspondent 24th April, 2021 10:25:40 Bangladesh Cricket Board President Nazmul Hassan Papon said on Saturday that hosting Dhaka Premier League, the country’s traditional Dhaka-club based tournament, is very unlikely in the present situation. “It is difficult to start the Premier League in this condition and I don’t think it would be right to play in this situation,” Nazmul told reporters after receiving his second dose of Covid-19 vaccine in a city hospital. Bangladesh Football Federation recently announced the resumption of Bangladesh Premier League from April 30 that created mixed reactions amongst the participating clubs.

The Professional Football League Committee on Thursday decided to start the second phase of the BPL during a virtual meeting in order to avoid fixture congestion in the busy international window. PFLC said that the delay of the league will create fixture congestion for the local players and clubs who will pass a busy time with their international assignments in the next two months. Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings will be busy with their group matches of AFC Cup 2021 from May 14 to 20 in Maldives while Dhaka Abahani Limited will also play in the qualifying playoffs.

Emergency meeting to be held tomorrow to finalize BPL issues 135 DHAKA, April 21, 2021 (BSS)- An emergency meeting of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Professional League Committee will be held tomorrow (Thursday) at 12 noon over a digital platform to finalize the various issues of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Earlier, in the last meeting of the Professional League Committee held on Sunday last, the members of the clubs expressed their opinion to resume the league as soon as possible after observing the decision of second phase lockdown and in coordination with various international games. In that meeting, a decision was also taken to prepare a draft fixture of the second leg of BPL by coordinating with the AFC Cup 2021 and World Cup qualifiers and it was supposed to send to the participating club football teams for their opinion.
