COWLES IS ACCUSED OF ENTERING A RESIDENCE AND THREATENING THE OCCUPANTS

A 46-year-old Smithton man is facing a couple of felonies following an altercation in Sedalia this past June. On June 23, a Pettis County Sheriff’s deputy arrived at the scene of a reported disturbance involving a weapon. The alleged victim claims that Christopher Cowles illegally entered her home while she was sleeping. She claims Cowles began yelling at her and then proceeded to her roommate’s room where he began threatening the roommate. Cowles is charge with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree and a Class C Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree. Cowles posted $5,000 surety bond on August 31.

KEYSHAWN FLOWERS IS ACCUSED OF FIRING A GUN FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE

A 21-year-old Sedalia man is facing multiple felonies for allegedly firing a gun out of a moving vehicle in August. On August 3, Sedalia Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of West Saline Street and Albright Court. Officers located 23-shell casings in the area. After further investigation, 21-year-old Keyshawn Flowers was identified as a possible suspect. Flowers waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty on January 4 to a Class B Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Shooting from a Moving Vehicle; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has been set at $250,000 cash or surety.

LA MONTE MAN CHARGED WITH SEX-RELATED FELONIES FOR ALLEGEDLY MOLESTING 10-YEAR-OLD GIRL

A La Monte man is facing sex-related felony charges involving a juvenile for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl on April 24. According to a probable-cause statement, the girl told authorities Joshua L. Opfer forced her to get in bed with him, touched her inappropriately, made her touch him inappropriately and several other deviant sexual acts. During his interview with authorities, Opfer denied the allegations. Court documents say Opfer is charged with a Class B Felony for Child Molestation in the Second Degree and an Unclassified Felony for Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy with a Child Less Than 12 Years Old. Bond is set at $75,000 cash or surety.

GREEN RIDGE MAN CHARGED WITH BURGLARY, ASSAULT

A 36-year-old Green Ridge man is facing felony charges for allegedly breaking into a residence and assaulting another man on May 3, 2021, in Sedalia. According to a Sedalia Police report, officers responded to a residence where Gary D. Horn showed up in a drunken rage in violation of an ex parte, forced open the door and assaulted the resident. The victim appeared to have been punched several times, and he was actively bleeding from his nose and mouth area. The officer detected the odor of intoxicants emanating from Horn, whose speech also was slurred. The officer also noted the front door had been forced open; a pane of glass on the door was smashed; and the door frame was in pieces on the ground.
