205 COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths reported Wednesday in Mississippi
There were 51 new cases and no new deaths reported in South Mississippi on Wednesday.

JACKSON, Miss. (WLOX) - The Mississippi State Department of Health reported a total of 205 new COVID-19 cases and four new deaths reported Wednesday in the state.
For the six southernmost counties, there were a total of 51 new cases and no new deaths reported as of 3 p.m. the day before.
The new cases were in Harrison County (20), Jackson County (14), George County (2), Hancock County (8), Pearl River County (5), and Stone County (2).

Hinds County has administered more than 153,739 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, as of May 11, according to data from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
That s up 4% from the previous week s tally of 148,525 COVID-19 doses administered.
In Hinds County, 30% of people living in Hinds County are fully vaccinated as of May 11. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention considers someone fully vaccinated two weeks after they ve been given a single-dose shot (Johnson & Johnson) or a second shot (either Pfizer or Moderna).
Mississippi reported 313,942 total cases of coronavirus, an increase of 0.43% from the week before.

The Mississippi State Department of Health issued a boil water alert Wednesday for Mississippi residents who receive their drinking water from the city of Richland in Rankin County.
According to an alert on the agency s website, E. coli bacteria was found in water sampled from the city s water system. Approximately 7,000 customers are affected by the boil notice which will last at least two days, health officials said. Water system officials will be immediately notified when the alert is lifted.
It is strongly recommended that all water be boiled for one minute before it is consumed, the alert stated.

Since the virus hit the state in March 2020, a total of 314,147 cases and 7,244 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported.
According to a New York Times database Wednesday, at least 693 new coronavirus deaths and 34,088 new cases were reported in the U.S. on Tuesday. Over the past week, there has been an average of 38,135 cases per day, a decrease of 29% from the average two weeks earlier.
The health department on Wednesday reported 26 outbreaks at Mississippi nursing homes. The update for the number of cases of the coronavirus and coronavirus-related deaths in long-term care facilities has been delayed as the data is under review, according to a message on the Mississippi State Department of Health s website.
