VIRGINIA On the second last day of 2020, 4,048 new coronavirus cases were reported by the Virginia Department of Health.
There have been eight days with cases above 4,000 in December: Dec. 9, 12, 21, 23, 24, 25, 29 and 30. The seven-day average of daily cases is 3,602 as of Wednesday, Dec. 30. Virginia s positive average of PCR tests stands at 12.7 percent as of Dec. 26. There s a seven-day average of 25,826 testing encounters reported in the commonwealth.
Northern Virginia had 862 new cases on Wednesday, below the southwest region s 917 and above the northwest region s 844, central region s 724, and eastern region s 701. Regional positive averages as of Dec. 26 are 16.2 percent in the southwest region, 14.8 percent in the eastern region, 12.4 percent in the northwest region, 11.8 percent in the northern region and 10.3 percent in the central region.

RICHMOND, Va. More than 250 additional COVID-19 patients have been discharged from Virginia hospitals in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA).
The VHHA reports a total of 30,707 hospitalized COVID-19 patients have been discharged, an increase from 30,444 (+263) patients since Wednesday s update.
Hospitalizations have increased in Virginia over the last 24 hours.
There are currently 2,744 patients in hospitals who are either positive or whose test results are pending, up from 2,707 (+37) Wednesday, according to the VHHA. Officials said 2,388 (+22) of those patients have COVID-19 while 356 (+15) have tests pending.

The VHHA reports a total of 30,444 hospitalized COVID-19 patients have been discharged, an increase from 30,133 (+311) patients since Tuesday s update.
Hospitalizations have increased in Virginia over the last 24 hours.
There are currently 2,707 patients in hospitals who are either positive or whose test results are pending, up from 2,698 (+9) Tuesday, according to the VHHA. Officials said 2,366 (-3) of those patients have COVID-19 while 341 (+12) have tests pending.

The Virginia Department of Health released their daily updated numbers involving COVID-19 cases within the state.
According to their website, there are now 344,345 total cases, 289,732 of which are confirmed and 54,613 are probable. There are 4,984 total COVID-19 related deaths, with 4,394 being confirmed and 590 being probable. The case numbers are up by 4,048, and deaths are up by 64 since Tuesday.
A total of 4,220,943 COVID-19 PCR tests have now been given in Virginia.
The Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association also updated their numbers. As of Wednesday, there are 2,366 people currently being hospitalized, confirmed with COVID-19.
