THERE have been no recorded coronavirus-related deaths across Worcestershire s hospitals for a ninth day in a row. The latest figures, announced by the NHS today (May 14), show no Covid-related deaths in the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and its total remains at 806. And there are no newly recorded deaths at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, with its total remaining at 63. The total number of coronavirus related deaths in Worcestershire hospitals therefore remains at 869. In all settings, which includes care homes and hospices, the total stays at 1,354. The Acute Hospitals Trust covers Worcestershire Royal Hospital, as well as the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital.
GOODBYE: Andrew bidding farewell to the team after 74 days
A MAN has bid an emotional farewell to an intensive care unit after spending 74 days in the hospital battling coronavirus. Andrew Galeckyj, 55, finally went home after two months in ITU at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital most of which he says he can barely remember. The sales and project director suffered an infection in his lungs, resulting in a cavity and lost more than three stones muscle mass. He spent 18 days in an induced coma. Mr Galeckyj said he is unable to recall most of his time there, due to the “intense antibiotics” he was given for the infection.
