(Photo courtesy of 10ID) DAVAO CITY - Seven farmers' organizations in Agusan del Sur received PHP2.1 million worth of livelihood assistance under the sustainable livelihood program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Army's 10th Infantry Division (ID) said Tuesday. In an interview, Capt. Mark Anthony Tito, 10ID spokesperson, said PHP300,000 worth of livelihood projects were given each to the groups during a turnover ceremony in Barangay Poblacion Loreto, Agusan del Sur, on August 24. The Binucayan Farmer's Association, Johnson Tribal Farmer's Association, Magaud Maitom Farmer's Association, Sitio Moto Farmer's Association, Violanta Farmer's Association, Kauswagan Sabud Farmer's Association, and Mansungad Farmers Association got the aid under Executive Order (EO) 70 Conflict Vulnerable Area-SLP. The DSWD is one of the lead agencies implementing former President Rodrigo Duterte's EO 70, which institutionalized the creation of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict. The SLP aims to improve the economic well-being of vulnerable, marginalized, and disadvantaged individuals and families in communities by mobilizing and empowering them through the support of local government units and other government agencies. Programs and services that may be extended to the former rebels include enrollment in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, provision of livelihood assistance under the SLP, and the cash-for-work program, among others.
