The Senate has confirmed Attorney General Merrick Garland with bipartisan support. Garland has already staffed up with former clerks, federal prosecutors, and onetime Senate aides. One of his advisors, Maggie Goodlander, helped House Democrats in the first impeachment of Trump. Merrick Garland didn't wait for the Senate's affirmation to get ready for the big job in front of him. The nation's new attorney general, confirmed in a 70-30 vote with bipartisan support Wednesday, has been busy behind the scenes for several weeks building a team of close advisors drawn from his vast, largely Ivy League-educated network of clerks, along with past Senate aides and a pair of federal prosecutors, according to multiple people familiar with his hiring.
