Art of the ark: Camden's little free libraries get new looks Lavinia Taylor took her 13-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son on a tour through Camden last week, ahead of Read Across America Week. They didn't check out Adventure Aquarium or the Battleship New Jersey, though. Instead, the longtime educator and her two kids drove throughout the city's nine square miles in search of book arks, little free libraries offering books for readers of all ages. Book arks are getting easier to find: Tom Martin, executive director of the Camden County Pop Up Library, has put out a call for artists — he calls them "arkists" — to adorn the usually plain white wooden boxes with their artwork.
