Biden is starting his administration's efforts to fast-track cancer-treatment research. He held a meeting Wednesday with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to discuss his plans. Biden's nominee to lead White House science policy, Eric Lander, is expected to lead the effort. President Joe Biden has jump-started efforts to bolster research on cancer treatments and cures, picking up from where he left off as Barack Obama's vice president. The issue has been a priority for Biden, whose son Beau Biden died of brain cancer in 2015.
