editorial@newsandsentinel.com CHARLESTON — Two people from the region were confirmed Wednesday as deaths from the COVID-19 coronavirus by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The state reported the deaths of an 86-year-old woman from Wood County and am 88-year-old woman from Wetzel County, according to the Wednesday morning pandemic update from the department. Fourteen more deaths were reported in the 24-hour period from Tuesday to Wednesday morning. The state’s death count as of Wednesday was 2,748 residents since the pandemic began a year ago. The number of deaths in Wood County as of Wednesday was 169 and 30 in Wetzel in County. Total deaths from other counties were: Calhoun 0; Doddridge 6; Gilmer 5; Jackson 61; Pleasants 11; Ritchie 11; Roane 9; Tyler 10; Wirt 3
