Data shows child abuse interviews declined during the pandemic Decline in forensic interviews By Margo Gray | February 19, 2021 at 10:31 PM CST - Updated February 19 at 11:04 PM HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The pandemic led to a substantial decrease in forensic interviews regarding allegations of child abuse in Madison county in 2020, according to the National Childrenâs Advocacy Center. The Center saw a 10 percent decline in the number of children interviewed following allegations of abuse in 2020 compared to 2019. âAlmost all of child abuse cases, especially child sexual abuse, thereâs only two people who know what happened. It doesnât happen in public and itâs not done in front of other people. There is the child and the person alleged to have done it,â said National Childrenâs Advocacy Center Executive Director, Chris Newlin.
