across the mid-atlantic and northeast this morning. those are going to be out of here i think by 8:00. but look at some of the damage caused from these thunderstorms late yesterday and into the evening hours in washington, d.c. severe thunderstorms with winds in es sxcess of 60 miles per ho. trees toppled on top of houses, as well as cars, bringing down power lines. at one point there were about 100,000 people without power across the metro area. in fact, the mayor in alexandria which was particularly hardest hit says this was worse for their city than snowmageddon was, believe it or not. today's forecast showing better conditions in d.c. our big focus is going to be across parts of the south. look at the severe thunderstorms expected there. not to mention the hazy, hot and humid conditions. we do have heat advisories in effect again across many of those states. back to you. >> so, what about tropical storm colin? what's going on with colin?
