it says that it is heading for some kind of diplomatic solution. and what we've been hearing in the background is that ultimately this could result in a situation where one of gadhafi's sons says over some sort of leadership following negotiations with the rebels and then ultimately moammar gadhafi could fade off into the distance, if you will, regime change. but it's far from clear if there's any acceptance on the rebel side let alone diplomatic steps that could make it possible. but this is what's being talked about in tripoli. and while there's a sort of stalemate on the front lines although heavy fighting is still going on in misrata, it does appear that this government here is beginning to talk about diplomacy and explore some of those options. >> cnn's senior international correspondent nic robertson reporting. thanks a lot, nic. over a week of torrential rain has left parts of thailand
