this really difficult battle in the pacific. he parachutes out along with one other person. that person's parachute didn't open. he survives on a raft being circled by aircraft to protect him until a submarine actually picks him up. >> right. actually, two of his crewmen didn't survive, and he always felt tremendous guilt about that. and i think actually at the funeral they talked about how he would say, why did i survive? why did i survive? and they talked in the funeral that he was told he survived because of barbara bush. he survived to come back and do all of that. but i can't tell you the number of times -- even though he's been in and out of the hospital and struggling, that he said, i'm going to live to be 102. i'm going to live to be 105. but i do think that barbara bush's passing has to take a toll after 73 years together,
