we don't have operational control of the border, you don't know everything coming back and forth. the only way we're going to accomplish this is looking at all 2,000 miles of border at the same time. the only way to do that is with technology. we should have more border patrol, but there are 2,000 positions already within border patrol that haven't been filled. and one of the reasons they haven't been filled is there's retention problems within border patrol that needs to be addressed. so i would love to take some of that money and make sure that we give the men and women in border patrol that are doing a hard job more salary. >> and so you think, open the government back up and then continue to negotiate how you handle border security? >> we can open the government, we can solve this problem. there's a number of ways we can deal with this. let's go back to the president's state of the union address when he talked about, you know, having a permanent legislative fix for 1.2 million daca recipients and having smart border security solutions. you know, we can do that. we can add tps in that. >> is that frustrating to you? because none of that happened.
