lee and his wife, alexis, want to give their children everything and around the holidays, that isn't easy. that challenge is something spotted by u.s. volunteers years ago which inspired the creation of project elf. every year, volunteers filled the wish list of hundreds of children in military families. >> what's amazing about this program to me is i think that the american public really wants a way to say thank you to our military and they don't always know how to do it and this is an actual touch program where we know what the needs of those, especially young enlisted families need. >> more than 1200 children will see their christmas wishes come true this year, weeks before santa comes to town. santa picks up the gifts in the bags but the surprise isn't just for the kids. many parents find not one or two items in the bag but the entire wish list and sometimes more!
