your body starts to burn more calories so make sure you stick around for that. good morning and thanks for being with us on this thursday. i'm vinita nair. >> i'm rob nelson. a clearer picture is emerging this morning of the gunman who took over a florida school board meeting. clay duke was a troubled ex-con who suffered from bipolar disorder. >> his wife says she recently lost her job as a teacher and that is what pushed her husband over the edge. t.j. winick is joining us now with more on the shooting and its aftermath. good morning, t.j. >> reporter: clay duke certainly had a history of violence, but according to police even his family, never saw this coming. blood stains the sidewalk outside this panama city, florida, building. what happened inside is a remarkable story of survival. >> god was standing in front of me, i'm telling you, and i believe that with all my heart. >> reporter: superintendent bill husfelt confronted duke. after the 56-year-old stood up at a school board meeting, pulled out a gun, and demanded that all the women and children leave the room. >> everybody in this room except them [ bleep ].
