asking a federal judge to let the military press on with the policy despite president obama's promise to end it. the move comes after a federal judge threw out the ban on gay es serving openly in the military last week. at the same time the pentagon says it will obey the law and halt enforcement. joining me from austin, texas, omar lopez, a five-year veteran of the u.s. navy who was discharged under don't ask, don't tell. omar, thanks for joining us. i want to get straight into this. after this ruling i understand you actually went back to reenlist in the navy. how far have you gotten with that, with the process? >> well, good morning, thomas. i haven't gotten far because i tried to reenlist and that didn't go through. after i got rejected after attempting at the army recruiting center here at the local -- at the local station. >> what did recruiters say about your denial to reenlist? >> well, they -- all they could inform me with is that they hadn't heard anything coming down from the chain of command.
