The horrific shooting Friday at a FedEx facility in Indianapolis that left eight dead has renewed calls for both federal and state gun control measures. With Republicans and Democrats hopelessly divided on the issue and time running out in the Indiana Statehouse it seems difficult to imagine significant reforms would take place. Still, leaders from the White House to Indianapolis City Hall are asking for federal and state lawmakers to be proactive. For the past decade, the Republican-dominated Indiana General Assembly has largely focused on expanding the right to carry a handgun, instead of the passage of more gun control policies.
