GAC declares 287,441 transactions in January 14 Feb 2021 - 10:47 By Ayeni Olusegun | The Peninsula Doha: The General Authority of Customs (GAC) released nearly 300,000 declarations in January, it disclosed in its monthly newsletter. Customs declarations reached 287,441, with air cargo customs recording the most with 263,230, while maritime customs completed 24,175 declarations. The percentage of customs declaration released in an hour was put at 99 percent. The released data saw a significant drop in total declarations compared to December, which recorded 331,149 statements. In the report, India remained the top exporting country, while the United States of America knocked off China as the leading importing country. Meanwhile, the GAC recorded 2.580kg of hashish as the largest seizure last month, 105 seizure reports were made. The GAC also transferred 22,647 declarations to other government agencies. The Environmental Protection Reserves and Wildlife Department remained the Best Government Agency in release time with an average release time of two hours.
