Gov Edwards Requests Emergency Declaration for Winter Weather After a couple of hurricanes and what seems like a laundry list of other natural disasters, you'd think Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards would have the White House on speed-dial for emergency assistance. To be honest, I don't know that he doesn't because Louisiana's Governor has once again reached out to the office of the President of the United States for a helping head in regards to our state's recent spate of frigid temperatures, ice, and snow. Yesterday, Governor Edwards made an official request for a Presidential Emergency Declaration in a letter that was sent to President Joe Biden. The letter stated the urgency of the situation in Louisiana in regard to the winter weather. It even spotlighted the fatalities our state has seen as a result of ice, snow, and temperatures that are well below normal.
