Hate crimes continue to rise with lack of resources to fight them FacebookTwitterEmail The FBI logo for their hate crimes departmentHearst Television Hearst Television recently put out a series called "Hate in the Homeland". The National Investigative Unit spent time uncovering the battle against hateful acts in America, including issuing a survey to 14,000 police chiefs and sheriffs. The survey found that only 14% of law agencies nationwide report hate crimes to the FBI's national database, while there are 866 hate groups being tracked by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Data now suggests that 20 hate crimes are reported per day. That could be a drastic undercount, as experts report a lack of police resources, survivors that don't step forward and the absence of widespread, mandatory reporting.
