By Cherranda Smith Jan 28, 2021 The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin on Wednesday (January 27) warning that the country faces a rising threat of domestic terrorism. The bulletin details that the threat is directly related to the January 6 attack on the Capitol, which the agency believes emboldened extremists and white supremacist groups. “The Acting Secretary of Homeland Security has issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin due to a heightened threat environment across the United States, which DHS believes will persist in the weeks following the successful Presidential Inauguration,” the notice reads. “Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence.”
