Once a month, the drinks industry-funded International Alliance for Responsible Drinking, which covers alcohol-related health and policy research worldwide, reviews some of the alcohol category's most recent sustainability initiatives and socially responsible actions to reduce harmful drinking. Here, a little later than planned, is what happened in April. Once a month, the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking rounds up recent higher-profile CSR and environmental activities from drinks brand owners Beam Suntoryannounced a new US$1bn investment in sustainability, diversity and responsible drinking initiatives in late April. The 'Proof Positive' campaign is aligned to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and aims to create a more sustainable and equitable future, including halving greenhouse gases and water usage by 2030. Women will fill half the company's leadership positions globally by 2030, and people from minorities will make up 45% of its workforce in the US. Beam Suntory also intends to engage 300m consumers by 2030 with a $500m global responsible drinking campaign.
