The Providence Journal An economic stimulus package for RI Rhode Island businesses and their employees have been on a terrifying roller coaster ride. Mandatory shutdowns, changing regulations, plummeting sales, canceled plans, and uncertainty about state and federal loans have made this by far the most difficult time to be an employer in Rhode Island. As president of the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, I am honored to represent neighborhood businesses that have fought their way through these devastating days. They’ve held on to their employees, anchored their communities and survived despite the conditions created by the global pandemic. With vaccine rates increasing every day, the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to come into focus. Businesses thrive on predictability and being able to plan weeks, months and even years in advance. Finally, it appears that we can look to the future once again.
