Manchin encourages people to review infrastructure framework By June 29, 2021 - 8:32 pm CHARLESTON, W.Va. — U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., wants his colleagues and the public to support the infrastructure framework announced last week, calling the proposal “the largest infrastructure bill we’ve ever had in the United States of America.” “I think it’s worth everyone supporting and looking at it, seeing how good it does,” Manchin said Tuesday on “MetroNews Talkline.” President Joe Biden and a bipartisan senatorial group last week announced the framework, which would cost $973 billion over five years with $579 billion in new spending. The proposal dedicates $110 billion for roads and bridges, $65 billion for broadband improvements, $73 billion for electricity upgrades, and $55.2 billion toward water infrastructure. Funding will also go toward researching and developing new energy technology.
