Piper Laurie, legendary actress known for her portrayal of the ultra-religious mother in 'Carrie' and for playing Paul Newman's despondent girlfriend in 'The Hustler', died on Saturday at the age of 91. Laurie died in the early hours of Saturday morning in the city of Los Angeles, her manager, Marion Rosenberg, confirmed to CNN. Laurie garnered three Oscar nominations throughout her career and won an Emmy. She also won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in 1991 for her portrays of photographer Catherine Martell in "Twin Peaks"
