Project eyes direct rail run from Sacramento to SF FAIRFIELD — The Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Authority and the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District have unveiled a new rail improvement program and a website that outlines the objectives. Link21 connects BART and regional rail – including intercity, commuter and high-speed passenger rail – as well as “connecting people sustainably to employment opportunities and affordable housing throughout the 21-county Northern California megaregion,” a joint agency statement said. “As we continue to offer vital services to our passengers during these challenging times, we are also looking ahead to the future,” BART General Manager Bob Powers said in the statement. “Link21 will connect passengers to the places they want to go throughout the megaregion.”
