(Archived document, may contain errors) 677 October 26,1988 PROSPECTS FOR ARAB-ISRAELI PEACE INTRODUCTION Prompted by the Palestinian intifada (uprising) in the West Bank and Gaza, now eleven months old, Secretary of State George Shultz launched a peace offensive early this year to relieve tens i ons and outline a solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
