Reflections: Ready to travel, but these accommodations may not be right for me I love traveling, but I also have some standards: I want electricity and running water. An operating TV is nice, too, but not a necessity. I have stayed at five-star hotels (when I could find a good deal), but also have a cabin we stay in when we travel to Maine that is “rustic,” but with modern facilities. On a trip to Africa – a bucket list trip for my 50th birthday – some of our accommodations were upgraded tents. One or two were rustic. A couple turned off electricity at certain points during the day, which affected showers and lights, but they were relatively modern (considering we were out in the middle of African savannahs).
