Florida State University. Credit: Diane Rado Florida State University’s Presidential Search Committee has refused to put Florida’s irascible Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran on its short list. He should never have been on any list. He’s not FSU president material. FSU is a public institution. Corcoran’s an enemy of public education, an ardent supporter of school vouchers. He graduated from a private Roman Catholic college and got his law degree from a private church school founded by televangelist Pat Robertson. Not necessarily disqualifying, but not encouraging. During a meeting of the state Board of Education in 2020, he declared you should never read The Washington Post or The New York Times.
